Running is a great way to get your legs and cardiovascular system conditioned for the heavy rigours of fast bowling. Fast bowling requires a well developed aerobic engine to allow longer spells of sustained pace. Fast bowlers also need to perform their sprint training (or anaerobic conditioning) as running speed strongly relates to bowling speed. This training program combines both aerobic (jogging) and anaerobic (sprinting) conditioning in blocks called units. A number of units make a session. There are 10 different types of units in this program, and examples of sessions and programs that can be used off-season and in-season for fast bowlers with a basic, intermediate, or advanced level of fitness.
